First Year Advisor Application
The Oklahoma Association of Student Councils is chaired by an Executive Director and an Executive Board made up of a First, Second and Third Year Advisors. Serving on the OASC Executive Board is a three year commitment, beginning at the annual state conference and ending three years later at the conclusion of that year’s state conference.  Although serving on the OASC Executive Board is an unpaid position, mileage is reimbursed. 

As a member of the Executive Board, the advisors must attend board meetings at the state conference host school twice each year, travel to the national conference each year for three years and execute duties as necessary at each state conference and during the year such as:

First Year Advisor:  minutes for meetings and at State: run new advisors meeting, help VP with breakouts and report on next year’s Nationals trip. 

Second Year Advisor:  plan Nationals trip and at state: run elections., handles voting at state, shadow JC Selection

Third Year Advisor:  run JC Selection and at State: assign adult committees, help President with student committees, and run the Advisor Business Meeting.

Article VI
SECTION 2. The state advisors shall be elected at the advisors' meeting of the annual convention; each serving a term of three years. These advisors shall be referred to as first, second, and third year advisor. The duties of each advisor are defined in this Constitution and its By-Laws. The application to run for First Year Advisor is due with all other campaign information before the annual convention. The advisor running must be a member of the OASC for a minimum of 3 years and is a current student council advisor. If no applications are received, then nominations will be taken from the floor during an advisor business meeting.
