Registration Form for participation in Salthill Cyclebus

The Salthill Cycle Bus will be running (cycling!) between Áras Bothar na Trá and Scoil Fhursa/ Scoil Iognáid. It will run initially on Friday mornings only (one-way towards school), but we hope to expand the service in time if there is sufficient interest.

The Participant Code of Conduct for Salthill Cyclebus is as follows:

*All cyclists in Junior, Senior Infants or in 1st/2nd Class, must be accompanied by a parent along the entire route.

*Bikes must be in good mechanical condition, appropriately sized and fitted with lights for dark winter mornings.

*It is recommended that cyclists wear properly fitted cycle helmets and hi-vis vests. 

*Please dress appropriately for Irish weather, including gloves in Winter. 

*Children must cycle in single file, a metre out from the kerb, with parents/ marshalls beside them on the outside.

*At junctions, wait until the marshalls say it’s okay for the group to proceed.

*Please listen to and follow the marshalls’ instructions at all times.

*Keep good control of your bike.

*No overtaking. Once you set-off,  stay in the order you are given. If the person in front of you stops, you stop.

Please let the marshalls know if there is any problem or if you need to stop.

If your parents have agreed that you can walk or cycle home, your parents must be aware of the route you are taking to make sure you are safe.

The cyclebus would like to take photos occasionally to promote the service on social media and  local media and to help to recruit volunteer marshalls. 

I am satisfied for photos of the cyclebus which may include me/ my child to be shared on social media/ in local media for these purposes.

I recognise that there are inherent risks involved in cycling on the roads in Galway, and that the organisers of Salthill Cyclebus are volunteers who are not in a position to fully mitigate these risks. Accordingly, I agree that participation of my family in Salthill Cyclebus is entirely at our own risk.

I (or a family member) would be willing to volunteer occasionally to accompany the cyclebus in a marshalling capacity.

Note that the long term growth and success of the cyclebus will depend on marshall support. A relative or friend might be interested?
