Full Court Press: How Pat Summitt, a High School Basketball Player, and a Legal Team Changed the Game by William Haltom and Amanda Swanson

In 1976, the case Victoria Cape v. the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association changed how girls played basketball. Cape, a junior at Oak Ridge High School, argued that the rules limiting girls to half-court denied her the right to equal protection of the laws as guaranteed by the Fourteenth Amendment. Pat Summitt was the star witness at the trial. Authors William Haltom and Amanda Swanson will recount this early test case of groundbreaking Title IX legislation.
