Please use this form to nominate an individual to serve as a member of the Building Emissions Reduction and Disclosure (BERDO) Review Board. This form collects information to assess whether and how nominees meet the requirements for Review Board members defined by Section 7-2.2(s) of the Ordinance and adopted regulations.
Per BERDO, the Review Board will be made up of nine members, six of whom must be nominated by qualified Community-Based Organizations, one who is a City Councilor or their designee, and two who may be self-nominated or nominated by any individual or entity. All nominees will need to be selected by the Mayor and approved by City Council before being seated on the Review Board.
REQUIREMENTS FOR BERDO REVIEW BOARD MEMBERS
- All Review Board members must be residents of the City of Boston at the time of their appointment and for the duration of their term.
- All Review Board members shall have expertise in at least one of
the following areas: environmental justice, affordable housing, labor and workers’ rights, workforce development, building engineering and energy, real estate development and management, public health and hospitals, architecture and historic preservation. Expertise can be demonstrated
through academic degrees, professional experience, volunteer
experience, or lived experience.
- Preference will be given to nominees that demonstrate more than one of the required expertise areas and bring diversity to the Review Board, including experience, expertise, geography, and
background.
EXPECTATIONS AND COMPENSATION
Review Board members should expect to commit to participate in at least one monthly meeting. Members who are eligible for and request compensation shall
receive a stipend of $200 per day of service, up to a maximum of $4,800 per
year.
Nominations are due by Friday, March 10, 2023. After this date, nominations will continue to be available on a rolling basis. The first set of nominees will be reviewed right after the deadline and on a rolling basis afterwards.
