Fall at Beaver Creek is spectacular… so we should be in for a beautiful day!
With that said, fly selection will be dependent on the weather… below are some suggested patterns for our trip.
· Amy’s Ants, 14
· Stimulators, 14
· Caddis patterns, such as Goddard’s
· Black beauty midges and other similar patterns, size 22
· Beadhead emergers, 18-20
· Beadhead Pheasant Tail
· Barr’s Emerger
· Red Brassy with gold bead
PLANS FOR THE DAY:
7 AM meeting time at Angler’s Covey. The shop won’t be open, so please have everything that you need with you when you arrive.
We often make a stop at Starbuck’s in Woodland Park on the way – coffee and bathroom break!
Beaver Creek is located just below Skaguay Reservoir. We will drive to the Reservoir and park in the lot there before we hike to the stream. The reservoir is approx. 90 minutes from the shop. We will caravan up!
We will fish until noon or so, and then have lunch…make sure to bring your lunch and water along!
Depending on the conditions, you might be comfortable wet wading in pants, or, you can bring your waders and boots along if you’d like.
We will be hiking downstream for about 15-20 minutes, so plan accordingly. You do not need to hike that far, if you choose not to. This is a small stream, and the fish are easily spooked, so we will need to be spread out.
After lunch, you are free to fish as long as you’d like!
