GTRA Positions (5 positions available)

Supervisor: Dr. Ben Batzer

Duties for First-Year GTRAs:

  • complete training week before fall semester begins
  • enroll in ENG 698G (1 credit practicum) fall and spring courses
  • teach ENG 190 Writing as Critical thinking
  • hold 2 office hours per week (minimum)
  • complete prep and grading

Duties for Second-Year GTRAs:

  • complete professional development plan in consultation with supervisor
  • teach ENG 190 Writing as Critical thinking
  • hold 2 office hours per week (minimum)
  • complete prep and grading

GAA Position #1 Academic Advising and Career Development Coordinator (Note: This is not a full year but a SPRING 25 SEMESTER APPOINTMENT ONLY with 4.5 credit tuition waiver and $2,000 stipend)

Supervisor: English MA Program Director Dr. Sarah Mohler

Duties:

  • Work in tandem with the Career Center to identify internship opportunities and create student resources to enhance career searches and professional development
  • Work in tandem with the Social Media Coordinator to publicize academic & career advising opportunities
  • Help maintain the English BA and MA/MAE Advising Brightspace sites
  • Coordinate with the Center for Academic Excellence, the Office of Student Research, and the new Director of Retention on advising initiatives

GAA Position #2 English & Creative Writing Social Media Coordinator (full year)
Supervisor: English MA Program Director Dr. Sarah Mohler

Duties:

●    In consultation with the supervisor, create a plan for publicizing the department’s identity and mission

●    Develop and publish social media content showcasing department events, course offerings, advising resources, profiles of new faculty, etc.

●    Coordinate with student clubs to promote events

●    Publicize student achievements and faculty research and awards

  GAA Position #3 Editorial Assistant for the Missouri Folklore Review and Green Hills Literary Lantern (full year)

Supervisor: Dr. Adam Davis

Duties:

●    Develop promotional materials and social media posts

●    Update and maintain journal websites

●    Interview contributors and staff for biographical content

●    Handle e-mail correspondence related to journal publication

●    Perform other editorial duties assigned by the supervisor

GAA Position #4 English & Creative Writing Podcast Coordinator (full year)

Supervisor: Dr. Adam Davis

Duties:

●    Learn how to write, record, edit, and produce a podcast

●    Learn how to measure impact, engage listeners, and build a podcast community

●    Conduct interviews with faculty on their teaching and research

●    Showcase the research and creative work of English and Creative Writing students

●    Build episodes around subjects that matter to English and Creative Writing students

GAA Position #5 English & Creative Writing Social Coordinator (full year)

Supervisor: Dr. Jamie D’Agostino

Duties:

●    Plan 3-4 in-person social events for undergraduate English and Creative Writing students each semester

●    Plan 3-4 online social events for English MA/MAE students each semester

●    Work with the English & Creative Writing department chair and administrative assistant to budget for events, secure venues, and order food.

●    Work with the GAA Social Media Coordinator to promote events

●    Survey students on the success of events and solicit ideas for future events

GAA Position #6 Greenwood Newsletter and Social Media Coordinator (full year)

Co-Supervisors: English MA Program Director Dr. Sarah Mohler and Greenwood Interprofessional Autism Center Director Brandon Herscovitch

Duties:

●    Work alongside the Greenwood Director to create a plan for publicizing the center’s identity and mission to the university and Kirksville community

●    Create a newsletter to announce Greenwood events; showcase client, student and staff successes; and highlight collaborations with partners

●    Help Greenwood to connect and maintain relationships with other centers through social media

●    Use social media to promote inclusive autism advocacy and connect with other autism advocates
