AVID is an exploratory class offered to students who want to prepare for four-year universities. The curriculum features writing, inquiry, collaboration, reading, note-taking and study skills, as well as college/career/motivational activities. College students act as tutors for AVID students twice a week, and field trips are taken to universities in the area. Students must commit to taking notes in subject-area classes on a daily basis and keep all class materials organized in their AVID binder. Other requirements for applicants are good citizenship, consistent daily attendance, and a GPA between 2.0 and 3.5 (Mostly A's and B's).
