2022 Seeking Proposals for ArtWaves Summer Classes & Workshops: July, August, & September.
Dear Artist Instructors,

You are invited to propose an ArtWaves class or workshop for our Summer season (July-August-September)!

Instructors should have a professional background or commensurate experience in their proposed media (Arts, Crafts, Dance, Music, Writing, etc).

You can propose a limited WORKSHOP or an ongoing CLASS, in-person or virtual/online. In either case, as an instructor you will teach the class/workshop through ArtWaves.  ArtWaves prefers a minimum of 6 participants to run a class or workshop.
We encourage instructors to become members of ArtWaves as well.

MATERIALS FEE: If you are providing consumable materials, you can determine how much that fee is per person above the hourly amount charged by ArtWaves. ArtWaves will collect this amount as part of participant tuition and reimburse you.

PAYMENT: ArtWaves will collect all fees from participants. Payment will be made to instructor within approximately two weeks of the final class/workshop dependent on USPS if you cannot pick up a check on campus. Arrangements can be made for partial payments for classes that take place over more than 3 weeks.
Current per person per hour base rates to be paid to Instructor:
$7.50 per teen/adult in-person art classes/workshops and dance/music/writing workshops
$6.00 per teen/adult in-person ongoing dance/music/writing classes
$5.00 per child any types, and per person for all virtual Zoom classes/workshops

There will be no deductions, withholding for any taxes, FICA contributions, unemployment or any other employee benefits made by ArtWaves on behalf of the instructor. Appropriate tax documents will be sent to instructor yearly, so a current mailing address is very important.

Proposals may be submitted early at any time to secure your spot in the schedule, but please note that any received fewer than two weeks before the start of the month may not have scheduling space available or sufficient time to market.

When we receive your proposal, we will contact you to work out details and confirm dates/times. Any questions can be sent to office@artwavesmdi.org. Thanks for considering!

Materials List (if participants are required to bring their own)
Try to limit materials to what participants will need during class or break it down into lists of "required" and "suggested".  You may expand on materials directly with students after the first session.  Check with ArtWaves as we have some of the materials available for use, especially for introductory classes that might otherwise be cost prohibitive to the participants.  Please list as well if participants need special shoes, instruments, journals, or outdoor-wear.
Use of equipment: ArtWaves has non-consumable equipment available for in-person classes. Please specify equipment you hope to use during your class/workshop.
Scissors? Projector? Hot Glue Guns?

Include website address and any social media platforms you wish to share as well if applicable. Also -- please send any marketing images of you or your work to office@artwavesmdi.org.  Examples of the work or performance in marketing are integral to attracting participants.
I give permission for submitted photos that may include me and my work to be used in marketing and media. *
You will be choosing which images to send to ArtWaves for marketing purposes, and we will attribute those images to you in marketing and media.  If the work is not yours, please indicate the name of the person who created the example when sending to office@artwavesmdi.org.
Are you interested in having your session recorded for possible use in the future as a virtual class or instruction/kit package? *
Please respond whether teaching live or on Zoom. A percentage of the proceeds would go to the instructor as passive income. We are still working out details but want to know if people are willing.
ArtWaves splits the base hourly participant rates 50/50 with the instructor. *
Base hourly rates on ArtWaves registration forms are: $15 per hour for in-person teen/adult art classes/workshops and dance/music/writing workshops, $12 per hour for in-person ongoing dance/music/writing classes, and $10 per hour for virtual classes/children’s classes. Materials fees and $10 non-member fee are not split. (Materials fees go in full to entity providing materials.  $10 non-member fee goes in full to ArtWaves.)
I have reviewed and will comply with ArtWaves' policy on masks, vaccinations (over the age of 5), and distancing for staff and participant safety on the ArtWaves website. *
We have a medically fragile community and would appreciate postponement of your class if you are exposed to or diagnosed with CoViD-19 close to the start or during the weeks of your class. (or Influenza, Chicken Pox, or any other easily transmittable diseases).
As an ArtWaves Artist Instructor I understand that I am an independent contractor and am responsible for all liability including payment of taxes on income received. *
