The Exploring Prince Willam Sound Teachers Course is designed for current Alaska teachers.

Course Description
Explore the scenic heart of Prince William Sound by kayak and by foot from a comfortable basecamp in Derickson Bay, near the Nellie Juan Glacier. Your classroom for this professional development course, accredited through the University of Alaska Anchorage, is a wildflower-studded moraine with spectacular views and diverse wildlife. During the six-day course, teachers will learn about the human and natural history of Prince William Sound while camping, hiking and kayaking in a remote area. Flora, fauna, cultural history, and area management will be discussed, along with both local and statewide effects of climate change. The over-arching goal is to inspire teachers to create new ways of connecting youth to the natural world and public lands. $750 Alaska Geographic Member Price ($825 Non-member Price)

Please note, registration for this course is through an application and completing the application does not guarantee a spot on the course. Priority will be given to current Alaskan classroom teachers for this course.
