The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) reminds us that we are all connected and need to support each other. No one is safe until we are all safe.

Woodstock Community Action Network (CAN) is our local initiative of Cape Town Together - a rapid community response to COVID-19. We are people from all over Woodstock (connected to other areas) coming together to self-organise, take local action, and develop ways to share resources.

This form is to connect and activate us! It helps us map our Woodstock Community and join a Working Group!

Once you have filled in this form PLEASE forward the form to your neighbours. If your neighbours don't have internet access or data please help them fill this in form (your neighbours include homeless people who live in your area)! We are especially looking for 'Street Captains' to share information and help coordinate assistance for their immediate neighbours.

What WOODSTOCK CAN Working Group(s) would you like to join?

Woodstock CAN people have initiated several “Working Groups” that respond to the needs of our community. If there is an area you feel is missing and are passionate about please join us, share it and go for it. As a collective we help one another get things done and provide a space for mutual support and action.

Street Champion group: be a contact person in your street to help distribute information

Woodstock Inspire (Entertainment) group: this team that curates and facilitates a virtual social gatherings e.g. poetry/drama/music/exercise etc"

Woodstock Sew4Safety group: this team is heading up the mask-making initiative that support local healthcare workers, essential services and community members bringing together seamstresses, designers and healthcare knowledge

Feeding scheme support group: this team supports various community kitchens and focuses is on mobilising volunteers, securing donations, and twice daily food drop-offs

Psycho-Social Support group: in collaboration with Woodstock Counselling Hub which offers confidential tele-counselling service for anyone who needs support

Fundraising group: this team brings together those interested in developing fundraising and resource mobilisation campaigns for the Woodstock CAN groups and local community-based organisations in the area.

Small business support group: this team acts as a source of information to support small businesses in the Woodstock area.
