Hello! I’m Yejin Eun. Thank you for building this phenology of everyday living with me at Emily Carr University. Phenology is the study of periodic flora and fauna life cycles and how these are influenced by seasonal and interannual variations in climate and habitat factors. Through this questionnaire, I will be gathering the public responses to visualize a calendar on a spring through winter clock face in the exhibit space near the Aboriginal Gathering Place. I hope this collective body of work will help us see time
beyond the individual, towards the flows of groups and
other-than-humans, which will help us think of life and its pace in all forms.
Without your participation, this calendar would remain empty. You are standing on the unceded territories of the xwməθkwəyəm (Musqueam), Sḵwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations. Therefore, I’d like to ensure all your answers reflect on the land here today and all living beings with whom we share the habitat.
Please answer the following ten questions as light, short, or deep and reflective as you wish. Feel free to skip some questions if you don’t relate. Look for a quiet space to read the questions and reflect. Take as much as time as you want. Take it with you and go for a walk if it’s needed.
