Through a CARES grant from the California Arts Council, the Shasta County Arts Council has received funds that will be regranted to arts and culture organizations - formal and informal - serving socially vulnerable populations and communities of color in the Shasta County.

This grant opportunity is meant to support organizations NOT eligible for funding through the direct CARES Act stimulus grants.

The California Arts Council is providing CARES Act funding to their State-Local Partners across the State of California specifically to foster cultural development through partnerships prioritizing socially vulnerable populations/people of color, and promoting equity for local community organizations.

Please note, the funds to be redistributed are provided through a California Arts Council grant designed to bring financial assistance to organizations and groups serving Communities of Color in Shasta County.

While the groups applying don't have to hold a 501c3 non-profit status, all are required to provide proof of involvement in working with and serving Shasta County Communities of Color, eg. magazine publication; podcast/ video links; photos from production of a theater play or dance performance, art show; traditional arts practitioners' work with community; Indigenous Language teaching; poetry writing workshops, etc..
