Build skills in event planning and programming, budgeting, and marketing. Learn the ins and outs of how libraries operate. Serve as peer leaders and library advocates. Most of all, have your voice heard! All applicants will receive a follow up email with more information and the next scheduled meeting.
Applicants interested in serving on the Teens Speak Leadership Council will be invited for an interview. Six teens will be offered a spot on the council in one of the following positions:
- President will work closely with the Library Director and Library Staff to organize meetings, assist in creating agendas, and preside over meetings.
- Vice-President will serve as acting president in their absence and will assist in directing meetings. Responsible for coordinating volunteer efforts.
- Secretary will be responsible for the attendance sheets and taking minutes at the meetings.
- Fundraising Chair will work with leadership council and members to create a committee to plan and organize fundraising activities; will serve as the liaison to the Friends of the Leon Valley Public Library.
- Communications & Outreach Chair will create and promote communication and outreach for Teens Speak and the library; work directly with library staff on social media campaigns; manage submissions of book reviews, artwork, blog posts, and flyers to the Library Staff.
- Homeschool Liaison will provide a voice and perspective of homeschool teens to Teens Speak.
