Prior to Ruuster, Brett was a founding member and VP in GCM Grosvenor’s Strategic Investments Group, a multi-strategy, cross-capital structure alternative investment platform where he played a key role from day one in growing the group from a single $200mm fund to a $2B+ platform with three funds, 10 investment professionals, and a global client base. GCM currently manages over $55 billion of assets.

HOW THIS WORKS:

(1) Deadline to apply: 48 hours from blog post (timestamp on the email you received that pointed you here). If you didn't get an email and found us online: see the date of the post and submit by end of the following day.

(2) The exclusive fireside chat will be open to a maximum of 10 current Flourish members, who will be given the opportunity to invite 2 of their friends (non-Flourish members) to the event. As you'll read in more detail below, inviting members with similar interests will increase your chances of acceptance.

(3) Flourish members will be able to submit 2 questions and will, time permitting, be given the chance to ask 1 question each on the call. A member of the Flourish team will reach out upon acceptance to let you know which question makes the most sense relative to the other questions that are being asked by the other 9 Flourish participants.

(4) While the Flourish team will only send emails of acceptance (we are all working for free here, typically past midnight), we encourage you to read the Selection Criteria below on ways to improve your chances in the future.

(5) If you're selected and cannot attend, you must give me (aleksey@substack.com) more than 24 hours notice.

(6) This session cannot be recorded or shared with anyone under any circumstances.

SELECTION CRITERIA:

(1) Response time - we want to recognize our most active Flourish users and will try our best to have fireside chats weekly. If you're interested in these, open our emails quickly and get to this survey.

(2) Post engagement - similar to the above, Flourish will consider how active the applicant is on the platform (e.g. how often do you like or leave thoughtful comments on posts and engage on LinkedIn/Twitter).

(3) While Flourish will give priority access (maximum of 5 of 10 seats) to members of the ambassador class, we will consider other aspects within this criteria list for those applicants. (4) Quality of questions - Flourish will seek to vet out how your story matches the benefits of getting on this specific fireside chat. Make sure your responses are thoughtful, well written, and don't forget to do your research. Keep things professional, but don't forget that we're all simple people here and sometimes it's good to set our professional goals aside and ask something more personal that could simply make you a better person.

(5) Urgency - make it clear why you want/need to speak to this specific speaker and why it's vital that it happens at this juncture in your professional journey.

(6) Past attendance - we can't host you every week ...

(7) Ability to attract 2 guests - we are laser-focused on growing our platform and you bringing two friends that will learn from the conversation is music to our ears!
