Impact on EWB-USA's Mission + Vision
State Representatives support their Region’s chapters and volunteers in connecting to the EWB-USA organization, network, and resources. They support chapters by being their first point of contact and share their experience, knowledge, skills, and expertise with EWB-USA.
Responsibilities
- Disseminating information from our headquarters operations and regional and national committees to chapters.
- Facilitating connections between chapters with the goal of sharing successes, best practices, and resources.
- Communicating the opinion, successes, and concerns of EWB-USA chapters and members to our headquarters operations and regional and national committees.
- Growing the EWB-USA presence within your state(s) by participating in the selection of new chapters.
- Guiding new chapters in the development process by sharing general information on the organization, our programs, and connecting prospective chapters to current chapters.
- Participating in regional meetings and activities.
- Maintaining monthly contact with the chapters within your state(s);
- Communication may take the form of in-person meetings, conference call, one-on-one calls, email, or Volunteer Village Chatter groups.
- Organizing inter-chapter events.
- Other responsibilities may vary per Region.
Qualifications + Requirements
- Appreciates the value of networking and developing relationships.
- A desire to learn more deeply about the EWB-USA approach and the procedures that support our success.
- Proven impact and leadership as an EWB-USA volunteer.
- Ability to successfully fulfill this role for a minimum of 1-year.
- Preferred:
- Lives in and/or works in the State(s) they are serving
- Experience volunteering as an officer of an EWB-USA Chapter
- Experience participating on an EWB-USA project team
Training & Resources
The RSC - most directly, the outgoing State Representative - will provide orientation to the role, contacts for the RSC, and background information on the Region. The Volunteer Engagement Team will fill in any gaps necessary. Ongoing support will be provided through monthly conference calls with the RSC as well as regular communication with the Volunteer Engagement Team.
Time Commitment
On average State Representatives spend 4-8 hours per month working with EWB-USA chapters/members, their RSC, and EWB-USA initiatives. This time estimate does not include event attendance.
