Essay Prompts
As a reminder, you are required to write on two of the five prompts listed below. No additional credit will be given for submissions beyond the required two prompts.
1. At University School, we expect students to care for and engage with their communities. Please share a specific instance in which you challenged yourself or stepped out of your comfort zone in order to impact your community (for example, your family, friend group, school, or neighborhood).
2. Think of a time when you faced an academic or personal challenge. Describe the challenge and your response to it. What resources did you find helpful?
3.  As a US community, we strive to live the motto Responsibility, Loyalty, Consideration. We take pride in our successes and try to learn from our failures. Please describe a moment when you failed to live up to one of the three values of our US motto. What did you learn from the experience?
4. You have 200 words. Take a risk.
5. Submit a selfless selfie! Submit a selfie that does NOT include your face, but rather items or a place that showcase who you are. Then, in the next text box, tell us a bit more about the selfless-selfie photo you chose and why. Please keep your response to 500 words or less.
