The Boston University School of Medicine Historical Society (BUSMHS) aims to expose students and the community to the rich history of Boston University School of Medicine, Boston Medical Center, medicine in Boston, and the medical profession, in general. By exploring how our surroundings have changed, learning how the profession has evolved, and introducing the people and innovations that helped create modern medicine, the BUSMHS hopes to offer valuable perspective and a source of inspiration that students will carry forth throughout their careers.
Every year, the BUSMHS publishes a journal of articles written by members of the BUSM community. You can learn more about BUSMHS and our journal, Aceso, at
http://blogs.bu.edu/busmhs/ . Fourth-year leaders of the BUSMHS serve as editors for the journal.
The BUSM Historical Society has a longitudinal leadership structure, and students usually remain throughout their tenure in medical school, serving as editors in their fourth year. The main responsibility of 2nd years is organizing lunch talks, museum tours, or any other events you might like to put on. 3rd and 4th years are usually available to answer questions, act as advisers, and help out with any projects as they can. 4th years are also responsible for organizing, editting, and publishing Aceso.
We are excited that you are interested in serving as a leader! Please fill out this application so we can learn more about you.
