This presentation provides an overview of
the applicable state and federal family and medical leave laws as they apply to employees,
the Americans with Disabilities Act, and how to request leave or an ADA
reasonable accommodation. We will discuss employees’ rights and
responsibilities as they apply to medical or family leave and work through a
few case studies to provide context. Additionally, we will provide
updates regarding the new laws that are now in effect. After the
general presentation for all staff has concluded we will have a 15-minute
presentation, specifically for supervisors to address how to handle leave
requests, how to recognize an employee may need leave (or other accommodation)
for a health condition, what to and what not to ask, and suggestions on job
restoration when the employee returns to work. Please bring any general
questions you may have on these topics.
This live presentation will be held at
the County Administration Building Conference Room C and is also being offered
in a hybrid format via Zoom.
