2024 Public Health Advocate Summer Camp! This is a FREE authentic public health industry experience led by San Diego County's Health & Human Services Agency.
Monday, July 15th will launch this 2nd annual 5-day summer camp where students will receive hands-on training from public health professionals in the following branches: Tuberculosis Control and Refugee Health; Epidemiology and Immunization Services; HIV, STD, and Hepatitis; and Maternal, Child and Family Health Services.
The camp will expand students' understanding of health careers beyond hospital systems, providing an excellent introduction to public health occupations and exposing them to various public health professionals. Students will have the opportunity to explore public health topics individually and create a project working in teams.
Camp Details
Where: San Diego County Office of Education-Linda Vista Innovation Center (SDCOE-LVIC), 2202 Comstock Street, San Diego 92111
When: Monday, July 15th – Friday the 19th.; each day will begin promptly at 9:00 a.m. and end at 12:30 p.m.
Eligibility: Students must:- Be rising 11th & 12th graders (must be a sophomore or junior during the 2023-2024 school-year).
- Be 18 years or younger.
- Complete and submit this form by Wednesday, May 15th. No late submissions will be considered.
- Ask a teacher to submit the Teacher Recommendation Form by Wednesday, May 15th.
- Have a parent/guardian sign the Digital Consent Form (provided upon acceptance).
- Obtain own transportation to and from the SDCOE-LVIC.
- Provide own laptop.
- Provide own lunch.
