Thank you for applying to the 4th annual Jimmy LaFave Songwriting Contest presented by Red Dirt Relief Fund. In order to participate, you must comply with the following:

CONTEST RULES:
• Open only to unsigned, emerging songwriters without a current publishing deal
• Current resident of Oklahoma
• 1 song submission per artist. This song must be the contestant's original work. It may be a demo or home recording—does not have to be professionally produced. Contestant retains full rights to works submitted.
• Songs must be lyric-driven.
• Members of  the Jimmy LaFave family or Red Dirt Relief Fund Board of Directors and their relatives are not eligible to apply. Judges reserve the right to disqualify an entry if it does not meet contest requirements.
• Cost: FREE

SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS:
•Complete the form below.
•Email an MP3 file of your song to jlfsongcontest@gmail.com. Other formats will not be considered.
•MARCH 3rd IS THE DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS.

JUDGING CRITERIA:
• A panel of respected songwriters and music industry professionals will judge MP3 submissions based on lyrics, melody, originality, form and musicality to select 3 finalists.  
• Finalists will be asked to submit a video recording of their song (acoustic) for public voting online April 1-9. This video can by made on a phone--professional production is not required. The judges' scores of overall performance will be combined with a public voting to determine 1st, 2nd and People's Choice awards.

PRIZES:
1st Place: $500 cash prize & opportunity to perform or have your song included in Bob Childers' Gypsy Cafe, $500 donation to Red Dirt Relief Fund in your name
2nd Place: Virtual Songwriting Class at ACM@UCO 
People's Choice Award (as selected by online voting): $100
