Scary Stories for Radio Workshop - Sign Up!
Do you love scary stories, real or imagined? Are you a freak for being frightened? Got a ghostly tale to get off your chest? In this free workshop hosted by Met Radio, we'll get into the basics of crafting a scary story with sound: we'll talk storytelling, sound design, scoring, and of course give you some time in the studios to work on crafting your own frightening(ly good!) radio piece, just in time for Halloween!

We'll also be joined by the producers of the award-winning audio horror podcast Parkdale Haunt, Alex Nursall and Emily Kellogg, for a special Q&A on making fantastically frightening radio.

This workshop will be taking place on Monday, October 30th from 5 - 7:30pm at the Met Radio station, located on the second floor of the SCC (55 Gould Street, just north-east of Yonge and Dundas Square) in suite 201, which can be accessed by stairs or elevators. While in-person attendance is encouraged, so you can make use of our studio spaces, if you'd prefer to join us from home, our aim is to offer this workshop hybrid, so you can join us virtually as well. The workshop is open to both Met Radio volunteers and non-volunteers who are excited to learn, but you should have a basic knowledge of audio recording and editing, using Audacity or an equivalent program.

Participants are encouraged to bring laptops to work on, and we'll have a few that you can borrow for the duration of the program if needed. Masks are optional and will be available on site. If you are having cold or flu symptoms before the event please join us virtually.
