AT-HOME REMOTE LEARNING INFORMATION:
This survey will help us plan for the 2020-2021 school year. Please understand, the description of At-Home Learning below is based on the current guidance issued by TEA. This guidance is always subject to change based on the evolving public health situation.  Parents, before you select if you want your child to attend in person or learn from home, please read the information below so you have a clear understanding of what "at-home remote" learning entails.

At-Home Remote Learning for the 2020-2021 school year will be very different from the at-home learning that was provided at the end of 2019-2020 school year. For those that choose at-home remote learning, it will be provided in two ways:  Synchronous Instruction or Asynchronous Instruction (under certain circumstances).  Synchronous Instruction is two-way, real time/live, virtual instruction between teachers and students.  Instruction in this model occurs at a scheduled time every day. Under certain circumstances, students will be provided Asynchronous Instruction.  This model does not require having the instructor and student engaged at the same time.  The instruction is not delivered in real time.  It could be pre-recorded video lessons or tasks that the student complete on their own.  Both options must address the required curriculum, per TEC, 28.002.

Students who participate in at-home remote learning are subject to the same daily attendance requirement of students who attend in-person school. Students must attend “school” 90% of the days school is in session to receive credit. To earn credit for attendance, students must meet one of the following daily engagement methods:  *daily progress in the online learning system, as defined in the TEA approved learning plan *daily progress via student-teacher interactions, as defined in the TEA approved learning plan *completion/turning in of assignments.

Once parents select At-Home Learning, they are committing themselves to that form of instruction for a full grading period.

The University Interscholastic League (UIL) has provided guidance with regard to extracurricular activities. Students who select At-Home Remote Learning are eligible to participate in extracurricular activities – including athletics, clubs, FFA, band, academic UIL or other such programs – while engaged in At-Home Remote Learning.

Students engaged in At-Home Remote Learning are NOT exempt from STAAR/EOC/Other State Assessments. They are still required to take those assessments on campus and are subject to the same state requirements. This means that students in At-Home Remote Learning are still required to cover all the same Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills as students who are in the classroom and will be held to the same grading standards, including GPA/rank calculations, as students attending in person.

Please keep in mind it is detrimental to constantly change the child’s instructional setting and can create extensive learning gaps. Parents who select At-Home Remote Learning will need reliable internet access and be able to stream videos. Currently, the two options for the 2020-2021 school year are In-Person or At-Home Remote Learning.

Please complete the following survey based on your intentions at this time. Deadline: July 16, 2020.
I have read the information above and understand the requirements for At-Home Learning set forth at this time, but understand that requirements could change based on TEA's guidelines. * *
