Summer 2023 Program to Build Rider Power Interest Form
In 2023, TRUST is launching a formal transit rider union capacity-building program to help develop transit rider organizing across the United States. Interest in transit rider organizing has never been stronger, but many rider groups are fledgling organizations with limited resources. We believe there is no one-size-fits-all model to rider organizing, and that local organizers are best positioned to adapt their work to conditions on the ground. However, we also believe many rider groups would benefit from sustained mentorship and support.

Participating groups must:
  • Commit to a strategy focused primarily on organizing transit riders
  • Assemble a core team of at least two organizers (can be volunteers)
  • Commit to developing, with the assistance of TRUST coordinators, a plan to build organizational capacity and resilience; and
  • Commit to calls every other week with TRUST coordinators for a four-month period (May-August 2023).
Applications for the summer 2023 cohort must be received by April 30, 2023.
