Who?
For people who live and/or work in Hackney and
- are diagnosed or self-identify as autistic
- care and support an autistic child, young person, or adult
What does it involve?
Signing up to a mailing list and an optional monthly meeting
1) mailing list:
- receive updates about the City and Hackney Autism Strategy
- learn about local and national initiatives relating to the autistic community
- hear about opportunities to connect with other autistic people
- hear about local services and how they can better support autistic people
2) autistic resident group meetings (optional)
The group usually meets once every 6 weeks (with a summer break) at Clissold House (above the Cafe in Clissold Park). These are hybrid meetings, so some people attend the meeting virtually or in person.
The meeting take place between 1-2.30pm and then extra time is allowed for socialising with other people attending the group between 2.30 - 4pm. You can come once, sometimes or every time. It's up to you!
What happens at the meetings?
We discuss experiences of existing services like City and Hackney’s NHS and Council services. We look at what’s working and what needs to change or developed. We decide how we can work together to improve things and make Hackney a more understanding and inclusive borough for all people who are autistic and those who may be supporting them in some way.
