 Workshop Descriptions 2023

Elements of Magic (usually lead by ChelidonRaven and Claudia)This 8 week class is the first of the Reclaiming Tradition core classes. Journeying together through earth, air, fire, water and spirit, we will work with the tools of trance, movement, sound, silence, divination and more. We hold the intent that this work will help us to build and deepen our relationships with the five sacred elements of life as we open to the deep magic of the elements and listen to what they have to teach us.

Along with forging a relationship with the elements, this workshop will provide the opportunity to explore and practice some of the core, foundational magical skills of the Reclaiming Tradition, as well as Wiccan and neo-pagan practice.

Elemental work is fundamental, and also endlessly fascinating and illuminating magical work. No matter how little or much experience we have with them, there are always new, powerful and subtle mysteries to discover and explore. We welcome all participants to this class, whether you are new to witchcraft and looking to explore a new path, or an experienced practitioner intending to reconnect with or deepen your own work.

The Iron Pentacle (lead by Chelidon and Raven) this 7 week class is one of the core Reclaiming tools for self-transformation, inherited from the Anderson Feri Tradition and adapted by Reclaiming. Using our magical skills, moving and shaping energy, we transform ourselves through trance and other tools to explore the five points of our inner pentacle: SexSelfPassionPride and Power - which are our birthright as free human beings. Through our work with the Iron Pentacle we can learn to reclaim these points and integrate them into our lives.

This workshop offers an intensive introduction to the Iron Pentacle and the ongoing work of integration, which is the work of a lifetime. During this workshop we will explore each of the points of the Iron Pentacle through different exercises and techniques including ritual, trance, energy work, self-awareness, communication, journaling, and art to work on areas where growth and balance are required, and learn tools to take this work out into your daily lives.

This is an intermediate workshop -- The Iron Pentacle is a powerful tool for personal transformation, and Iron Pentacle work can be challenging. We will not be spending time teaching basic magical skills, so we hope that our participants will have basic skills such as grounding, individual ritual skills and familiarity with Reclaiming language and teaching style. The workshop is open to anyone who has taken Elements of Magic or equivalent Reclaiming classes, workshops or camps. If you are unsure if this class is appropriate for you, please contact us.

The Pearl Pentacle (lead by Chelidon and Raven)This 7 week class is one of the core Reclaiming tools of personal and community transformation, and the lessons we can learn from the energies of the Pearl Pentacle can only enrich and deepen our connections with self and with our communities. As with the closely related Iron Pentacle, the Pearl Pentacle is a tool that was developed in the Anderson Feri tradition and adopted and adapted into the Reclaiming tradition early on in it's history, where it has become one of our four core classes

The energy of the Pearl Pentacle is said to arise when that of the Iron Pentacle is present and balanced, that the energy of Pearl vibrates an octave higher than that of Iron and it that the irritation of the work of Iron Pentacle leads to the creation of the Pearl, as an oyster creates a pearl from the irritation of grit inside it.

Join us as the inner, more personal transformative work of the Iron Pentacle begins to shift outwards to become the energy of the Pearl Pentacle, with it's focus on our relationships with each other as we work to build healthy communities.

In this seven-week online intensive workshop we will explore the points of the Pearl Pentacle - Love, Law, Knowledge, Liberty and Wisdom, how they connect to each other and how they connect to the closely related energies of the Iron Pentacle. We will use techniques of trance, ritual, music, art, energy work, community building, communication and many more to learn to integrate and balance these energies in our daily lives and practices.

This workshop is an intermediate workshop, and is open to anyone who has has taken Elements of Magic or equivalent Reclaiming classes, workshops or camps and who have worked with the energies of the Iron Pentacle before - whether in a community class, online, at camp or for one who feels that they have spent sufficient time exploring the Iron Pentacle as part of their personal work to have integrated it into their personal practice. We will not be spending time teaching basic magical skills or revising Iron Pentacle work, so we hope that our participants will have basic skills such as grounding, individual ritual skills and familiarity with Reclaiming language and teaching style. If you are unsure whether this class is for you, please contact the teaching team.

Community-building (lead by Chelidon and Raven with a student teacher) This seven week classis the newest of the core classes of the Reclaiming Tradition – although the skills and teachings that it offers reach far beyond the bounds of any one tradition.

Community-building is the newest of the five core classes of the Reclaiming Tradition – although the skills and teachings that it offers reach far beyond the bounds of any one tradition. We will explore and discuss what community is (and is not), how we can engage in and build healthy communities, and we will explore tools that can support community-building, such as consensus process, active listening, boundary making and tools for conflict resolution. Since this is an online class, we will be also be focusing on building and participating in online communities, including the fundamentals of using social media for outreach and communication.

This is an intermediate workshop, and we will not be spending time teaching basic magical skills, so we hope that our participants will have skills such as grounding, individual ritual skills and some familiarity with Reclaiming language and teaching style. The workshop is open to anyone who has taken Elements of Magic or equivalent Reclaiming classes, workshops or camps. If you are unsure if this class is appropriate for you, please contact us.

Rites of Passage (lead by Chelidon and Raven)This six week is one of the core classes of the Reclaiming Tradition – although the skills and teachings that it offers reach far beyond the bounds of any one tradition.

This deep, intensive workshop teaches the powerful skills of working and playing with our own personal stories and myths, looking and listening to how they speak to us, showing us ways to deepen our own practices, and to become truer to our Selves and who we can become. Tapping into the realms of the unconscious we will explore techniques of dream-work. We will use trancework and divination in ways that might be new to you. We will draw in art and other creative elements to this workshop and will encourage you to open to your own powers of creativity in re-creating your own individual mythology and stories. The workshop will culminate in the creation by each participant of a personal ritual to honor themselves and the multiplicity of paths that have bought each of us to the place on the journey where we are.

The workshop is open to anyone who has taken Elements of Magic or equivalent Reclaiming classes, workshops or camps. If you are unsure if this class is appropriate for you, please contact us. You will need access to the Internet, a tarot deck or other deck of illustrated divinatory cards, a journal and perhaps some art supplies.

Experiential Celtic Tree Ogham (lead by Raven Edgewalker):  The Celtic Ogham is an old Irish alphabet or cipher. Just like many other alphabets (Runes, Greek, Hebrew for e.g.) it is an alphabet for which each letter has magical significance and multiple associations - one set of associations is that of native trees. When working with the Ogham as the Tree Ogham, the divinatory meaning is derived from observation of the ecological, practical as well as magical properties of twenty trees native to the British Isles, e.g. Birch, Rowan, Alder, Willow and Ash.

Interest in the Ogham, and especially with its associations with trees has grown rapidly in the last decade and has expanded outwards from the British Isles, extending into countries such as the USA and Australia where many of the Celtic trees are not native to the land, which can present challenges in working with this system.

In this eight week workshop we will work on learning skills and tools to develop and build energetic connections to the trees of the Celtic Ogham, along with using other resources and research to learn about both some of the history of the ogham and the energies of its associated trees. We will learn how to weave together our experiences of the trees, along with the traditional associations and lore of the Ogham into better understanding the Ogham as a magical system. Deepening our connections with the trees that are part of our native ecosystems whether you live in mountains or the desert or even in the British Isles (!); and work towards building a personal system of associations to the ogham that is relevant to your own land and practice.

We will work with trees of the ogham as our allies and as our teachers learning to listen to them and hearing what offerings we can make to them for their assistance in our work. We will learn some of the basic practical skills required to begin making your own ogham set if you desire.

You will need a journal and writing materials – I would suggest purchasing a new journal for this work, so that your notes are not caught up in the midst of other writings - or it would be appropriate to use loose pages in a binder. You will need to be able to access research materials, whether online or offline, on trees, their ecology, practical and magical uses, as well as their use in art and literature. You may want or desire art supplies or a camera if this is one way that you like to work.

You will also need an ogham set to participate in this workshop. if you do not already own one please visit Raven's etsy store Greenwomancrafts

Time Magic (lead by Claudia) In this five week, online, interactive class we will explore our relationship to and with Time. We will strive to create, expand, and deepen a healthy and beneficial sacred conversation with this crucial and often ignored or maligned magical element. Work will include (but may not be limited to): Creating a sacred understanding of Time as a magical ally and element; Time's crucial role in the practical magics of chance, synchronicity, luck, and manifestation; Working with deities and other entities associated with Time and its magics; Working magically with the past, present, future; Exploring and experiencing Time in other realms; and accepting and manifesting change in your life with the aide of Time as an ally. If you choose to join us on this journey, be prepared for your magic and your worldview to be expanded and strengthened for all time! All that remains is for you to ask yourself, "Is it Time?" If the answer is "yes." (and if not now, then when?) we (Claudia and Time), are excited to have you join us in this Work.

This workshop is open to all participants regardless of magical experience. However we will not be spending time in this workshop teaching basic magical skills, so we hope that our participants will have basic skills such as grounding, individual ritual skills. If you are unsure whether this class is for you, please contact us.

You will need a journal and writing materials, basic art supplies, a divination deck or system of some kind (for example tarot cards, rune stones, ogham staves) and a watch or clock - ideally one that has hands (rather than a digital one or cell phone) and ideally one that you need to wind up daily. Trance work will be available in audio form (MP3 audio files, via Dropbox) for download and playback at any time.

Divinatory Practices (lead by Chelidon and Raven) The ability to divine -- to see into the future, or into possible futures, is one of the core tools of the witch. Around the world and throughout time peoples have divined for information in a myriad of ways, from watching the flight of birds across the sky to reading tarot cards, runes, and ogham staves.  There are as many techniques for divining as there are divination tools; ultimately our divination tools can become keys into knowledge, points of connection used to listen to the voices of the universe and its divinity. Our tools can help us to open ourselves towards hearing those messages more clearly, drawing them down to us where we can sift through, and offering ourselves and others the guidance that is sought.

In this five week class, rather than focusing on any one divinatory tool or technique, we offer instead experiential tools which may be used with many different divinatory tools, and that are intended to better help us open to the voices of the universe. While we will discuss and explore existing divinatory system, we will also each build a unique individual system using a variety of magical tools and techniques, to help us more deeply develop our own divinatory process and associations.

This workshop is open to anyone, whether they have experience with none, one or many divinatory tools, we will not, however be stopping to explain basic magical technology, so our Elements of Magic class or similar would help.

We invite you to bring what divination tools you have to our work, bring a willingness to learn, to open to experience, and have fun!

* Prerequisites. We ask that folk registering for Iron and Pearl Pentacles, Community building and Rites of Passage have taken Elements of Magic or an equivalent class, workshop or camp path in the Reclaiming tradition before registering for one of these workshops. We have found over the years that folk who have already had a grounding in Reclaiming tradition practices, tools and culture get far more from the classes than those who come into these classes new, however much experience they have in different traditions.  This is a request not from our lack of trust of experience, or a hoop to jump through but our of a desire for "cultural understanding". In the case of Pearl Pentacle, the work builds on the work of Iron Pentacle - part of the same story if you like.  Folk do not need to have taken prerequisites within World Tree Lyceum.

** Cancellation Policy: Deposits are non-refundable. We understand that folk's circumstances change and it is often possible for us to roll your deposit forwards to the same class the following year or a different class later in the year. If you're able to find someone else to take over your slot, that's also fine (but not something we can take on facilitating).

Packages and mentoring

Full "Passport"
Our first package includes complete access to all classes offered within a year and a day.  It includes optional access to a private Facebook Group if you choose, and if we have sufficient students to facilitate this to share your journey with with other students enrolled in our passport program, and up to 6 one-hour long calls with one or more of the teaching team over the course of the year to support your work and to offer a place of further connection and support.

The year and a day begins either with the start of the first class or mentorship session. This package is available for either $600/year or $55 monthly. We typically offer 7-9 of our 11 classes in any year, and add one or more new classes most years.

“Four for Three”
For those who want to take at least four classes, but who do not need the all-inclusive package, we are offering the opportunity to take any four classes for the price of three (if the classes have different prices, the least expensive class will be the free one). You will need to let us know in advance which four classes you’re committing to, since we might not be able to make changes to class sizes later on. You get first priority and guaranteed placement in each class you choose. If your year and a day period crosses into a new calendar year and we haven't yet published the class calendar for that year, we will work with you to help you choose your classes (to let you know roughly when upcoming classes will be scheduled).

“Reclaiming Bundle”
This package includes all five of our Reclaiming Core Classes (Elements, Iron and Pearl Pentacle, Rites of Passage and the Community Core Class), for a sliding scale of $400-$550, and this is payable in installments (contact us at info@worldtreelyceum.org for more information).

Repeating a Class
Sometimes people would like to re-take a class that they have already taken with us, and we are always happy to make this possible. We allocate places on a first-come first-served basis and offer repeat classes at a 50% reduction of whatever amount you would normally pay on our regular sliding scale for each class. Please let us know if you are repeating a class, we're not able to always track this for you.

Our Mentoring Program

What does mentoring involve?

You will work with one of our two mentors, Raven or Chelidon depending on availability, your location in the world and the focus you wish to place on the mentoring you receive.  Our mentoring program currently is only offered in conjunction with our year and a day passport program, or for people who have already engaged with that work via World Tree Lyceum. Our Mentoring is intended to deepen the work of the classes that we offer, and support you as you explore aspects of that work that call to you.

For example, you might desire to deepen your relationship with the elements, delve into various forms of divination, or challenge yourself to step into Reclaiming community-building. We will work together to figure out which of our mentors will be the best match for your needs. This is a relationship where you are able to ask for and receive guidance with your own work, and thus we expect that you will have an idea of what your personal work is (though we may be able to help you refine your focus if that is desired).

Once we have determined who you will be working with, we will start the process with an hour-long one-on-one video call to discuss your needs and determine what guidance we can best offer. After that point, we ask that you check in with us twice a month -- once by email and once in a monthly hour-long video call. We will also be available for urgent queries, and will offer suggestions and guidance and sometimes various work which might take the form of ideas for you to research and explore, exercises, readings or rituals that support the work offered in our classes.

In order to be able to devote sufficient time and attention to each of our students we do have very limited places, and we do often have a waiting list. At this time we are not able to offer mentoring places to students who have not been part of our teaching program, or who are not currently enrolled in our Passport program. We are not able to offer general pagan mentorship or training outside of the scope of the teachings we offer, and we do not offer initiatory paths in any tradition via online instruction.

This is not strictly speaking a teaching relationship -– we are here to guide you in your own work within our programs and offer suggestions, encouragement and ideas for further exploration.

We are dedicated to making this work accessible, while also honoring the time-intensive nature of a one-on-one mentorship relationship, so this program is provided as an addition to our "Passport" program, and separately on a sliding scale of between USD$20-50 per month, open to those who have already taken either our Passport program or our Reclaiming Core Class bundle in the past. If you would like further information about our mentorship program, or to apply for a place, please contact us at info@worldtreelyceum.org

Deeper Discounts, Solidarity Places and Installment Payments

We strive to make this work available, accessible and sustainable for as many people as possible, in accordance with our inclusivity and accessibility statement (please see statement, above). We are sometimes able to offer a limited number of deeper discounts for those who are unable to afford the bottom end of our sliding scales. We want to make this as fair as possible, so if you feel that this is something you wish to request, please contact us as far in advance as possible and send in a registration form. We will add you to our list of requests and make a decision when the class has enough registrations to know how many deep-discounted places are available. For some classes, we may not be able to allocate discounted places until close to the start date of the class.

We also try to offer Solidarity places where possible for people from groups underrepresented in our communities. We are able to offer these places on a class-by-class basis, and again, we ask that you contact us as far in advance as possible to be placed on our list for each class. We are unlikely to be able to offer one person a deep discount or solidarity place for multiple classes, because we try to give priority to those who have not been able to take our classes previously.

We are unable to offer any further discounts on our discounted “four for three” plan or our full passport/mentorship plans.

While our general policy is to ask for payment in one or two installments, we are also able to offer the option of payment plans for people who would find it helpful to break up payment for a class into more, smaller payments over time. This option is available both for regular registrations or for deeper discounted places. Please contact us to discuss this when you send in your registration form.
