Exodus 38:8— And he made the laver of brass, and the foot of it of brass, of the looking glasses of the women assembling, which assembled at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation.

A laver is a bowel of water designated for washing. This word is where we get the word lavatory.

The Laver was a basic copper wash basin. We aren’t given much information about what it looked like. Some believe it was a double-decker basin—wash hands up top and feet washed below. Or maybe it was just one big bowel perched atop a pedestal.  It was located just behind the altar and just in front of The Holy Place (also called the Tent of Meeting).  [Notice it’s placement on the picture above.]  Only the priests used the Laver.
