HSTA Legislative Reception Saturday January 15, 2022 3:30 pm-5:00 pm RSVP Form
Our Legislators want to hear from you! We are the boots on the ground and we need to share our stories to help guide legislative decisions regarding public education.

This is a virtual event.

The Legislative Session begins on January 19, 2022 and the decisions made during this session will determine how much funding public education will receive next school year. This affects teacher positions, class sizes, infrastructure, music, art, P.E. Field Trips and more.

Last year we shared how furloughs and budget cuts were affecting students, teachers and schools.  As a result, the legislators helped us avoid furloughs and a 10 - 30 % budget cut.

The year before, teachers shared with Legislators how Hard to Staff Areas as well as SPED positions were not being filled and how that affected students, teachers and schools. As a result, the legislators helped pass the Differentials for Hard to Staff areas and SPED positions.

We will have an agenda that is based on our member-chosen legislative priorities which include fixing our pay scale to address salary compression, writing the differentials into the State Budget and reinstating our step movements.

Please join us on Saturday January 15, 3:30pm - 5:00 pm.
Zoom Link is forthcoming and will be sent to your personal email address that you have provided the 1-2 days
before the event.
This is open to HSTA members.
