                                              Blue Ridge Scout Reservation
Welcome to Summer Camp 2024! *
 We hope you are reviewing this registration form with the intention of joining us this year as Troop 29 and 1029 jointly head to the Blue Ridge Scout Reservation.   Among the largest Scout Reservations in the country Blue Ridge Scout Reservation is comprised of several camps (Powhatan, Ottari & Claytor Lake) which offer a broad array of programs to visiting troops.  The camp is located amidst the amazing Blue Ridge Mountains of south western Virginia near Hiawassee which offers plenty of opportunities for hiking, swimming, and outdoor activities.

It has been many years since we were last at Blue Ridge and we are excited about visiting once again.   We are specially excited by their breadth of programming which offers something for every age scout regardless of experience.  

We will be attending Blue Ridge Scout Reservation - Camp Powhatan Camp Week #5, July 14 - 20th 2024. 

A commitment to attend MUST BE MADE NO LATER THAN FRIDAY February 23, 2024.   A commitment means you have registered using this form AND have made an initial deposit of $200 to your scout account.

Camp activity registration opens immediately after February 23, 2024 and only scouts who have made the $200 deposit can be registered at the camp and make program selections.   Late payment means a lower chance of receiving first choice activities.

Final payment for camp must be made by March 24th or an additional $30 per camper will be assessed by Blue Ridge..

NOTE:  These deadlines do NOT APPLY TO NEW FIRST YEAR SCOUTS. (Wizard Lizards are now 2nd year scouts)   First year registration deadline is May 15, 2024 since the camp makes provision for new scouts joining in the spring.

SUMMER CAMP PROGRAM COSTS

The cost to attend Blue Ridge Scout Reservation is dependent on the program your scout selects.   

==> All programs (except New River Adventure) cost $560 ($590 if registering after 4/1) for the week which includes transportation, all activity fees, food, and 5 troop wicking t-shirts. 

==>  New River Adventure has a base cost of $560 ($590 if registering after 4/1) and incremental charges based on variable activities scouts will choose as a group.   Final cost will be determined after selections are made.

==> Cost for adults attending any program is $225.

==> A deposit of $200 per scout is required by FEBRUARY 23, 2024 to register them for a program at Blue Ridge.    

==> PAYMENT IN FULL IS DUE MARCH 24TH 2024.    Payments made after this date will incur an additional $30 per scout fee which is imposed by the camp.

==>  CANCELLATIONS after April 1st (camp's date) will come with penalties and may not be possible.  By registering you COMMIT to making the entire payment.

ANNUAL HEALTH AND MEDICAL RECORD

We, along with the camp, will be doing our utmost to maintain a safe environment.   Parents will be asked to confirm that scouts are not sick prior to their admission to camp.  Scouts running a temperature will NOT be permitted onto the bus or into camp.   Parents will be expected to COME PICK SCOUTS UP SHOULD THEY BE/FALL ILL.

Each year the ScoutsBSA requires participating scouts submit a Health and Medical Record as a condition of participation.  For Summer Camp the requirement includes a Physician visit and signature.  The link below will open a fillable form that is appropriate to bring to a doctors office for final data input and signature.

==>  3 copies of the above Health and Medical Record signed by your physician are due to be turned into the troop by June 15, 2024.    3 copies of your health insurance card are required as well.

DIETARY NEEDS

Have special dietary needs?  Blue Ridge Scout Reservation is able to accommodate most dietary requirements.  In order to receive a 'non standard' meal please submit the form found at the link below directly to camp (please copy Mr. Hawley mhawley.bsa@gmail.com) no later than JULY 1st.

Special dietary forms received after this date cannot be guaranteed.


NOTE:  Special Diets on Mountaineer program may require a conversation with the camp.

All scouts attending Summer Camp will receive 5 Class-B shirts; one each color.  Please indicate size desired.

If scouts wish to purchase additional Class-B shirts beyond those provided please check the box(s) indicating the quantity and color.

We are excited to offer 5 different camp options for scouts this year.  Please note that if we do not get a minimum number of scouts in the high adventure activities we may need to reconsider their offering. 

Scouts should take note of the age/rank requirements noted for each program.   

Consider your age to be 'as of' July 15.   If you will be 14 and have PLANS to be First Class by July 15 register for your desired program but recognize you will not be able to attend your chosen camp unless you successfully advance.
