The Saratoga Youth Hockey Inc. (SYHI) is committed to
providing the opportunity for young athletes to participate in youth hockey at
all levels. The Board of Directors has created a scholarship program in honor
of Mark Woodcock, to celebrate Mark’s passion and commitment to hockey. The
Woodcock Scholarship is for dedicated Saratoga families that demonstrate the need
for financial assistance. If awarded a scholarship, players will receive a
partial or complete waiving of registration fees.
Confidentiality: All information contained in this
scholarship application is for the sole purpose of assisting the Finance
Committee in making fair and accurate decisions regarding financial assistance.
The committee will keep all applications confidential and registered players awarded
scholarships will remain anonymous.
Please submit the form below by September 15. Scholarship
recipients will be notified by September 30th. We recognize that financial
situations can change drastically due to unforeseen circumstances and will accept
applications until December 31st, however, there is no guarantee of funding.
Awarding of Funds: Scholarships will be granted on a per
season basis and applicants must reapply each season. No guarantee of financial
assistance is implied by the completion of this application.
Qualifications: The Mark Woodcock Scholarship Fund Committee
will consider the following:
Financial need (SYHI reserves the right to request
additional information such as tax returns and documentation of participation
in government assistance programs).
The player conducting themselves in a manner that contributes positively to
the organization.
Priority will be given to players meeting one or more of the following
criteria:
- Demonstrates financial need
- First time applicant
- Member of a multi-child family
- Living in a single parent household
Requirements:
- Player must be currently registered with SYHI.
- Player must be in good standing with SYHI and have no
balance from prior seasons.
- Player must be committed to participate for the entire
season of which they are applying for.
- Parent(s)/Guardian(s) must be committed to volunteer at
games, events, etc.
This form will allow you to submit application requests for
up to 3 players within a family. Should you be seeking support for more than 3
players in your family, please note that in your personal statement and include
player ages and levels.
