Hold On To Your Butt MKE DIY Materials
Thank you for being a vital part of the HOTYB campaign and helping keep Milwaukee clean!
In an effort to adapt to social distancing protocols, we are exploring DIY options for preventing cigarette butt litter in our streets, sidewalks, waterways through:
1. DIY HOTYB Receptacles: Do you have a lot of cigarette butt litter at your apartment building or home, by your business, or in your neighborhood? We know the official HOTYB receptacles aren't an option for all spaces, so are exploring creating DIY kits with a clay pot, sand, paint, and a HOTYB sticker. Note: These are intended for more residential or low traffic use. For high traffic areas, we still recommend the official HOTYB receptacles which can be ordered for roughly $100 from the Huntington Beach Surfrider chapter!
2. DIY Cleanup Kit: Do you have a lot of cigarette butts and other litter in your neighborhood you'd like to cleanup up? We are exploring creating DIY cleanup kits that could be loaned out and want to assess interest. Potential kits may include a paper bag or bucket to hold the litter, tongs to pick it up, and a clicker to count how many cigarette butts you find.
Please let us know if you would like to receive a DIY Cleanup Kit and/or a DIY HOTYB Receptacle.
