AW Track & Field - Athlete Survey
Athletics Wellington has established a working group to produce recommendations to revitalise the Senior Track & Field (T&F) programme. This survey invites feedback from Wellington athletes who have an interest in Track and Field events to help us prepare our recommendations. We are keen to receive your input about how the AW summer T&F programme can best facilitate athlete participation, development and enjoyment.

We have sent out a separate survey to coaches by email. There is also a separate survey for officials, an area we acknowledge is under pressure due to declining numbers.

If you want to provide feedback in a different way, please contact Marshall Clark on 021 442305

Don't know
Athletics Wellington has a healthy level of participation in senior T&F (good numbers)
Athletics Wellington promotes its T&F athletics events well to encourage participation
All participants in T&F Interclub meets should be registered athletes
Pre and early season ‘open days’ would encourage new athletes to have a go
There is a disconnect between college and club athletics
I’d be more likely to compete in events outside of Wellington if there was the opportunity to travel with other athletes

The AW T&F programme, including A&B meets, is well thought out and structured
The A&B meets are vital for helping athletes prepare for major local and national events
The timing of the A&B meets is well aligned with major events
The A&B meet schedule provides athletes with the opportunity to compete in a diverse range of events
The running order of the A&B programmes is appropriate
Pre-registration for A&B Meets would improve the Meet (eg. events with no athletes can be scratched from the programme)
It is a waste of time running an event for one athlete
The timing of the A&B meets (Saturday 1.30-3.30pm) should be reviewed
I’d rather see fewer A&B meets in the calendar if this meant they were better attended
The Wellington Centre T&F Champs are an important event in the athletics calendar
The timing of the Wellington Centre T&F Champs in February is appropriate
There are benefits in running joint junior/senior interclub programmes
I’d like to see the Wellington Centre T&F Champs combined with the Junior Champs
The T&F season opening day can be on the same weekend as the NZ Road Relay champs

From your perspective, what can Athletics Wellington do to improve the T&F programme?
What are some of the main barriers to athletes participating in our T&F meets ?
What could we do to increase the "social aspect" ? , eg would we get support for a low-key "after-match" function for athletes and officials ?
