Thankyou for your interest in applying for a CCReW Conference/Event Support Scholarship to support your attendance at the ARCS Annual Conference, 6-8 June, 2023 at the Sydney International Convention Centre. This scholarship is specifically to support travel for the conference participant (and a carer if medically required) to learn more about the workings of the therapeutics industry to support their involvement in those activities. It cannot be used to support additional holidays, a break for partners, etc. Please note the following before applying.

To be eligible to apply for the scholarship, you must meet the following criteria:

1. You have interests in the therapeutics industry as a health consumer (not as a research or industry professional/or someone interested in a career in research/industry). 

2. You will ideally have applied for an ARCS Consumer scholarship to cover registration costs by 5pm, Friday 14 April. (Our preference will be to support ARCS Consumer scholarship recipients, to extend the CCReW funding as far as possible. Unsuccessful ARCS applicants or those that did not apply may be considered IF we do not get enough suitable applications from ARCS scholarship recipients AND we have sufficient funding to cover additional costs).

3. You will complete this CCReW application form honestly, by 9am, Monday 1 May 2023 outlining your interest in the conference, eligibility and travel support requested.  Late applications will not be accepted unless the deadline has been extended for all applicants (to be fair to all).

4. Be willing to provide feedback on your conference experience, learnings and sharing of knowledge to AccessCR.

5. Have not received a CCReW scholarship in the past 3 calendar years.

6. Will accept the decision of AccessCR with respect to scholarship awardees and amounts offered.

As there may be some duplication of information provided on the ARCS application form, we are also happy to accept a copy of the ARCS application form plus any additional information we request via email instead, to save yourself time. Accomodation will be booked by AccessCR at the Oaks Sydney Goldsborough Apartments for up to 3 nights for scholarship recipients needing it. 

Applicants should use the application form to outline the travel support required to attend the conference (flights, taxi, meals, etc).  

AccessCR plus 1-2 two external evaluators will use their discretion in deciding award funding recipients and amounts, balancing the need for access and reducing as much of the financial burden for recipients to attend as possible. Consumers from populations that would typically be a scarce voice at such meetings will be prioritised for funding.

In the event that you are offered scholarship funding (which may or may not be all that you have asked for), you will have 4 days to decide whether you will accept the funding, which will include provisions for reimbursement. This will usually allow us time to recommit the funding if for some reason you cannot accept or can no longer attend the event. As such, please keep an eye on your email during the first week of May for updates on your application.

As the applicant, you are responsible for submitting accurate, honest information about your purpose for attending the event, the costs involved, as well as any other financial support you have/hope to obtain to support your attendance. In doing so, you will be respectful of other CCReW members that may be just as deserving of financial support as you.  We would like to spread the money as far as possible, so ask that you are considerate in your choice of reasonable flights, expenses etc to help us achieve this. For noting, Table 1 in the  ATO TD2022-010 provides a guide to what might be considered reasonable amounts.
