AU Dance Program Aug. 22 Level Placement for Fall 2024 Embodied Knowledge (Studio Dance) Classes

Dance Program Level Placement will take place on Thursday, August 22, 4:00-5:30PM. Level Placement will begin at 4:00 PM in Katzen 152. Sign-in begins at 3:30; arrive by 3:45 at the latest.

On August 22nd we'll be placing for African Dance, Street and Club Dance, Ballet, Contemporary, and Jazz. Dance shoes are not required, but you're welcome to have them on hand.

We recommend long pants (not tights) for at least part of Level Placement -- having layers on hand is a good idea. (For instance, you could dance in tights or leggings for ballet, and slip on some looser or longer pants on top during other sections of Placement.)

For Contemporary, you will want pants that reach close to your ankles so that you don't stick to the floor. For Street and Club Dance, you will want a clean pair of sneakers to dance with on the studio floors. For Ballet and Jazz, you are welcome to bring shoes specific to those styles. For African Dance, you are welcome to bring a lapa.

Plan to stay for the full Level Placement, which will finish around 5:30 pm. We get to know your dancing much better by seeing you dance in several genres, even if some of them are new to you!
