Health/Travel Insurance
For any non-EU insured travelers: Any medical or rescue services will need to be paid for at the time of service. It’s not a case of not being allow into the hospital or helicopter without paying, but you can expect a bill fairly promptly and payment to be settled prior to leaving the hospital, or a few days after the rescue.  With the right travel insurance a lot of these costs should be recoverable.  With a good travel insurance provider the costs may be covered upfront with nothing to pay.  There is also the option to buy mountain insurance that will cover you for rescue outside of resort areas, or in the resort free-ride areas.  Rescue on the piste/in-bounds areas is covered by insurance included in the ski pass (but doesn’t include further medical treatment).  For those with an EU Health Card, treatment in hospital is free.if your health insurance provider doesn't offer emergency care coverage out of network.
