Citizens for Safe Schools: Kids in the Middle Prospective New Mentor Application

Thank You for your interest in our 'Kids in the Middle' mentoring program!

'Kids in the Middle' (KIM) is a community-based prevention model mentoring program, pairing 'At-Promise' youth 1:1 with volunteer mentors from the community who spend an hour a week, every week for at least one year having fun, exploring new and exciting opportunities within the community, and building the skills and character needed to realize their greatest potential.

Youth in the KIM program are:

  • 2x more likely to plan for their futures
  • 3X less likely to commit an act of violence or delinquency
  • Demonstrate better attendance, grades, and graduation rates over non-mentored peers

The Process:

Please the complete this form, and we'll give you a call to arrange for a background check and schedule an orientation interview.  We'll make it convenient for your schedule and it won't take longer than a half hour. At that time, we'll go over details of the "Kids In The Middle' program.

We will later schedule a few hours for your new mentor interview and training- at a time convenient for you.  At this training we will cover your role as a valued mentor and our mentoring handbook will be discussed in more detail. This training provides you an opportunity to have your questions or concerns addressed and you will meet others who are beginning their mentoring adventure too!

Our promise to you, once you become a mentor, is to provide the ongoing support, activities and even some
freebies (movie tickets, bowling & golf passes, etc.) you’ll need to be an effective mentor.
All we ask in return is that you stay firm in your commitment to be a trustworthy and responsible mentor for at
least one hour a week for one year. And, of course, we ask you to stay focused on having fun!

We look forward to our year together. Thanks again for your interest!
