For PIs interested in joining as an advisor: You may submit this application at any time. Acceptance does not guarantee participation in the upcoming cohort, as that is dependent on a member of your lab committing to serving as a mentor and a postbac scholar being matched with your lab.
Next cohort: Scholars begin the program August 5, 2024 with a three-week research immersion and orientation (RIO) experience facilitated by mentors. Their research appointment in the lab will be September 3, 2024 - June 6, 2025. A Symposium showcasing scholars' research will wrap up the program in June.
Admissions process: The Admissions Committee will review scholar applications April 22-May 10, 2024. During that time, Advisors will review potential matches for their lab. Participants will be confirmed by June 17, 2024. If a scholar is not matched with your lab this cycle, you will be included in any future cycles you are available.
Advisor Responsibilities: Advisors must attend the Advisor & Mentor Orientation in July via Zoom. Advisors are expected to support mentors in their role with scholars, contributing to their development as mentors. This includes attending RaMP mentoring workshops when available. Advisors also provide secondary support to scholars, helping ensure they have a positive and productive research experience. Additionally, each lab will facilitate a training module (9 hrs) and professional development workshop (3 hrs) for the scholar cohort during an assigned month (schedule to be determined by the advisor, mentor and program coordinator). Advisors are encouraged to attend the end of the year Symposium in June, and will be invited to participate/present.
Research Expenses: $10,000 per scholar is available for expenses related to scholars' research project(s), including research supplies, sequencing costs and/or core facility charges, as well as training modules, professional development workshops, the Symposium, and other training or development opportunities. These funds are managed by the Program Coordinator and not sent to the labs directly.
