Confidentiality means that specific information will not be shared with others. However, there are certain situations where we have a duty to inform other agencies, for instance if you tell us that you are at serious risk of harm or if someone else is put at risk. In these situation we would always try to talk with you about these concerns before taking any action and would support you to take action yourself as far as possible.
Your counsellor will be receiving supervision as part of their training framework, in addition they are also required to undertake clinical supervision in order to ensure that you receive the best possible service.
There are occasions where it may be helpful or necessary for your therapist to contact or consult your GP or another Professional. This would normally be discussed with you first however, we will not hesitate in contacting emergency services to ensure your safety or the safety of others.
In rare instances we may be instructed by a legal representative or directly by the court to provide factual information; where possible we will endeavour to share contents of such information with you.
REMOTE/ONLINE SESSIONS
Please ensure that you can access a confidential space for online sessions; free from any distractions or noises and where you will not be interrupted, or overheard. It can also be helpful to allow yourself some space after each session before resuming normal activities.
You therapist will arrange meeting details with you in advance and if for any reason the technology fails, they will contact you on the number that you have provided.
