Related Arts 2020-2021 Interest Form- Eighth Grade
Hello Mid-Carolina Middle School Rebels! We are excitedly planning for the 2020-2021 school year and would like to get information from each of you regarding the related arts portion of your schedule next year.  

We are very sad, that we could not get this information to you at MCMS before school was out.

Our traditional nine-weeks schedule consists of four core classes (ELA, math, science and social studies) and two related arts periods.

In terms of your related arts courses, we are able to offer limited choices, based on the needs of the student. **Every student will take a nine-weeks of health and at least one nine-weeks of PE, each year.**
We also offer nine-weeks classes in art, character education, and computer education/keyboarding. Semester classes will be Gateway to Technology and Read 180. Yearlong classes are band, chorus, ESOL and Support Services classes. Please discuss these option with your parents.

I am interested in participating a Gateway to Technology Class, there are two offered for eighth grade students.   Automation and Robotics- Students trace the history, development, and influence of automation and robotics as they learn about mechanical systems, energy transfer, machine automation, and computer control systems. Students use the VEX Robotics® platform to design, build, and program real-world objects such as traffic lights, toll booths, and robotic arms.  Medical Detectives- In this class, students play the role of real-life medical detectives as they collect and analyze medical data to diagnose disease. They solve medical mysteries through hands-on projects and labs, measure and interpret vital signs, examine nervous system structure and function, and investigate disease outbreaks. *
Are you interested in the Bible Release class that meets off-campus, during the third nine-weeks? Below is a description and requirements of this class. A signed permission form is required to be registered. Please submit it to the school by June 20, 2020. If you would like a copy emailed or mailed to you, please contact the office. The first 50 who have their form submitted will be assigned and then a waiting list will be developed.
