Local Food Champion Award Nomination
The purpose of the Local Food Champion award is to recognize, in relation to the Columbus & Franklin County Local Food Action Plan (the Plan), individuals, groups, organizations, agencies, or institutions that help to create a food system that benefits ALL people. The Local Food Champion's work embodies one or all of the goals outlined in the Plan:
Goal A: Enhance coordination and communication among existing food resources and agencies.
Goal B: Improve access to and education about healthy food, affordable food and local food.
Goal C: Increase the role of food in economic development.
Goal D: Prevent food-related waste.
Nominations for the Local Food Champion award will be accepted on a rolling basis in three categories: Youth (ages 18 and below), Service (adults outstanding in volunteer or public service efforts), and Technical (educators, organizers, and others outstanding in professional efforts).
Nominations received by April 19 will be considered for the Spring 2021 award. Spring 2021 winners will be recognized during the May 19, 2021 annual Plan hearing.
