Become a Character for Joy!
We're so thrilled that you're interested in becoming a Character for our Joy Ministry! This is a life-giving ministry for our volunteers, as well as the Eastern Territory Arts Ministries Bureau! We are indebted to compassionate volunteers, like yourself, to help us bring joy to the children in our communities through the art of storytelling, music and choreography.

All potential Character applications will be reviewed and submitted for approval. At this time, we can only support volunteers within the tri-state area. Once approved, Characters will be fitted for costume and will receive scripts, recordings, materials, and a training session in improv/choreography relating to their Character work. 

*Please note, all potential Characters for the NYP Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital will receive an introductory overview with our medical advisor to review hospital guidelines and conduct. They will also need to complete an online health assessment, a consent for photography release, and review the MSCH Volunteer Agreement before the scheduled date of the event.

- Becoming a Character involves light memorization, the ability to learn basic choreography, and light improv for meet and greets.

- Becoming a Masked/Suited Character involves light choreography and the ability to be physically expressive. Masked/Suited Characters can choose to verbally engage with children or they can choose to be mute.
