Thank you for your interest in SOAR 2023! We are offering two separate SOAR trips for Spring 2023:
1) SOAR WV is a 7-day trip that runs May 6-12. This trip costs $225 (or free if you're pell grant eligible) and is only for rising Sophomores at WVU. All transportation, food, equipment, and instruction is provided with this cost, and the trip begins and ends in Morgantown. This trip will explore our beautiful state, including hiking , ropes course, climbing, and whitewater rafting. More details will be provided upon acceptance of application.
2) SOAR Utah is a 3-credit experience that involves a 14-day trip in Utah. This trip is only for rising Sophomores at WVU and costs $850. Airfare is NOT included with this cost; Students will additionally be responsible for purchasing flights or getting themselves to Denver Airport, arriving on May 8 and departing on May 21. Once in Denver, the trip cost includes all transportation, food, equipment and instruction. This trip involves hiking and exploring Canyonlands National Park and a multi-day canoe expedition on the Green River in Utah! For SOAR Utah, students will additionally attend 3 Follow-up Classes in the Fall Semester 2023. More details will be provided upon acceptance of application.

Applications for first consideration are due at 4:00 PM on Friday, January 27.
Decisions will be made and sent by email by Thursday, Feb 9 at 9:00AM.
Upon acceptance into the program, students will be required to sign a billing agreement, commitment form, and other required paperwork at the Outdoor Recreation Center (housed in the SRC) WITHIN 72 HOURS OF ACCEPTANCE to secure their spot.

Know that we do not select students based on GPA or previous outdoor experience- we strive to select students we believe will benefit the most from a SOAR trip and that will add to a well-rounded group.
