About this event:

Have you experienced tension/pain/fatigue in your every day activities? Do you notice chronic tension or pain in your neck, shoulders, back, arms when at the computer, walking or other activities?

Come explore how the Alexander Technique can help you find more freedom of movement and relief from pain, in a natural way!

In this experiential class we will learn how we usually interfere with the body’s natural alignment and coordination and what to do about it. The Alexander Technique helps develop a conscious awareness of how we use our body and helps change habits that cause tension and pain. Students of the technique report a feeling of lightness and ease and freedom from unnecessary tensions.

Please wear comfortable clothes and have a 1 inch thick soft cover book handy.

About Clara:

Clara Sandler, mezzo-soprano, a native of Buenos Aires, Argentina, feels at home in a wide range of styles, from opera, oratorio and recitals, to zarzuela and tango. Critics have praised her singing as “both powerful and gentle, capturing a remarkable range of emotions”, her voice possessing “a radiantly rich and mellow tone quality”. Clara Sandler appeared as the featured soloist at the Boston premiere of Gorecki’s “Symphony of Sorrowful Songs”, with the Boston Chamber Ensemble. With this orchestra she also performed Wagner’s “Wesendonck Lieder”, her singing praised by The Boston Globe for her “dark and attractive timbre”. She has performed in opera and oratorio with different music organizations in the Boston area.

An avid researcher of music from Spain and Latin America, Clara has presented many recitals in Boston, New York, Philadelphia, Washington, DC, Uruguay and in her native Buenos Aires. She is a member of the Boston Arts Consort, which specializes in music from Spain.

Her CD “Alma Apasionada, Songs from Spain and Argentina”, was released in 2006 by Newport Classic.

Clara received her MM with Honors in Voice Performance from the New England Conservatory, and is on its Voice faculty at the Preparatory & Continuing Education Schools, where she chaired the Voice department from 1997 to 2011. She is also on the Voice faculty at Boston College. She received her certification as teacher of the Alexander Technique at the Alexander Technique Center of Cambridge.
