2023 PROVINCIAL CHAMPIONSHIP HOSTING APPLICATIONS
Please ensure that you have contacted your home association to discuss the availability of field(s) for hosting a Provincial Championship in your area. 

Please consider any additional large events that your area may be hosting during these weekends which will effect availability of both hotel and camping accommodations. 

Please also ensure that this decision was made with the support of your team's parent group to ensure there is adequate assistance for the weekend tournament to help make the event a special one for the players and their families attending. 

THE HOST TEAM WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR PROVIDING THE FOLLOWING:
  1. Assigning a host Chairperson that will be responsible for organization of the Provincial Championship event and all off-field activities during the weekend of play.
  2. Diamond(s) of proper size for the category involved; proper preparation/maintenance/lining of diamonds prior to each game and effort to keep field playable if it rains.
  3. Securing a second field should the Provincial Championship format dictate the need for a second field of play for games.
  4. Covered dugouts (may use tarps).
  5. List of available accommodations to be provided to travelling teams (host hotels, camping, etc).
  6. List of restaurants in the immediate vicinity of the Provincial Championship site.
  7. Concession provided at the diamond.
  8. Official scorekeepers and pitch counters to be assigned for each game.
  9. Providing 3 non-team members to sit on a Protest Committee (with appropriate knowledge of the game of baseball and Baseball Alberta rules).
  10. Change room or trailer available for the umpires at the site of the Provincial Championships.
  11. All teams (including the Host) at Provincial Championships and Qualifiers will be responsible for paying half of the umpire game fee in games which they participate in. If a three umpire system is used, each team will be responsible for one and a half umpire game fees per game played. 
  12. Obtaining required gaming/raffle license for 50/50 and/or raffles utilized for fundraising.
  13. Ensuring team photographs are taken of all teams and submitted to Baseball Alberta by the Friday of the following week. 
  14. Awards ceremony at the conclusion of the tournament.
  15. Liquor license and liability insurance for beer gardens is required (the sale of alcohol is only permitted at 22U/Senior/Twilite age category provincial championships).
  16. Access to drinkable water for teams, umpires and volunteers. 

THE HOST TEAM SHOULD/MAY PROVIDED THE FOLLOWING OPTIONAL ITEMS
  1. If the Provincial Championship format does not dictate a second field for games of play, the host may secure a second field for teams to practice/warm up on to assist with keeping the tournament schedule as planned.
  2. Official program with approved front cover with Baseball Alberta logo (optional).
  3. Meeting room for pre-tournament meeting (optional, an email meeting template is available from Baseball Alberta)
  4. Opening ceremonies (optional)
  5. Banquet, barbeque or some other function provided for players, coaches and dignitaries (optional).
  6. Championship apparel sales with approved Baseball Alberta logo and championship weekend photography through community partners (optional).

BASEBALL ALBERTA WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR PROVIDING THE FOLLOWING:
  1. Gold and silver medals.
  2. Championship MVP awards (as available and based on Baseball Alberta sponsorship)
  3. Championship Trophy (Provincial Championships Only).
  4. A maximum of 2 dozen baseballs for the host site, any need above this amount is to be supplemented by the host site.
  5. Tournament support with access to Baseball Alberta staff via phone/email for assistance as needed by the host site Chairperson.
  6. Umpires and a crew chief will be assigned by Baseball Alberta umpire assignors. Game fees will be covered by the participating teams, including the host. All umpire travel and accommodation charges will be covered by Baseball Alberta directly with the umpire and umpire crew chiefs.

TENTATIVE HOST STATUS WILL BE GIVEN TO ASSOCIATIONS AND THE FINAL HOST CONFIRMATION WILL BE MADE AFTER TAKING TIERING AND LEAGUE FINISH INTO CONSIDERATION WITH OTHER HOST APPLICATIONS.
