KIDS FIRST!  Film Critics Audition Application  2024

Are you a tween or teen that loves film, loves talking about films, is comfortable being on-camera and would love the opportunity to interview celebrities? 

If you answered yes to 2 or more of these questions, we invite you to audition for our international KIDS FIRST! Film Critics team!  

All you need to do is answer the short questions below and submit it to us on or before the next deadline. 

We will review your application and send you instructions to set up your virtual audition  shortly  after the next deadline. Be sure to answer all of the required questions below.

Remember to: 1. Use a tripod, not a handheld camera; 2. Shoot in horizontal format (not vertical); 3. Say your name clearly at the beginning and end of your video; 4. Zoom in. We want a close-up with only your head and shoulders, not a full body shot; 5. Put your camera at eye level so we are looking directly at you; 6. 9. Film review (200 words).  Please give us a writing sample by including a written review of any recent film rated PG-13, PG or G that is at least 200 words long. THIS IS REQUIRED. Please refer to our tip sheet on written reviews to learn how to write in the KIDS FIRST! format:

10. If accepted, you will required to take one of our online or in person boot camps to get you started. This is mandatory. Everyone must take this class, no matter how experienced they are, in order to maintain consistency in our reporting. There is a nominal fee for this. Additionally, there is an annual membership fee of $100 to remain active as a member of our team. This fee comes dues in December of every year.

Two last things to remind you of. A. This is a volunteer position. You will not be paid for your work as a KIDS FIRST! Film Critic. However, you will receive coaching with every assignment from our writing and video editors and coaches. B. We will ask you to make a one year commit to KIDS FIRST! after you complete your initial training and take a minimum of one assignment a month. Please note below that you agree to these.  *
