By Discovery is an enrichment program of the Lincoln PTO that offers elementary school children opportunities for exploration and growth through creative project-based learning in art.

A Trial Class will provide an opportunity for your child/children to experience what we do during a typical day in By Discovery. Following snack and outdoor play, we create art using one of the following mediums: painting, printmaking, collage, illustration, assemblage, sculpture, clay & fiber. Homework time and free-play complete each day.

Following school dismissal until child pick-up, between 5:30 and 6 pm

Fee:
$27 per child. Families with two or more children receive a 2.5% discount

For your child to participate, you must sign a waiver, emailed separately following your registration.

IMPORTANT: On the day of your registered child's class, please pack a nut free snack for your child (foods processed in a facility with nuts or those that may contain nuts are NOT acceptable).

To register your child, please complete the form below. Within 24 hours of your registration, you will receive an email confirmation from By Discovery, an invoice, and a waiver requiring your signature. PLEASE SUBMIT YOUR SIGNED WAIVER AND PAYMENT WITHIN 1 WEEK OF YOUR REGISTRATION CONFIRMATION. If your form and payment are not received within this time frame, your registration will become void, re-opening the space for other registrants. Trial class enrollment is first-come, with a limit of 3 trial class participants on a given day, in addition to our fully enrolled students. Limit one trial class per child.

Children must be picked up no later than 6pm. A $1 per minute late fee will apply from 6pm until the time of child pick-up, due immediately. Please use Door 6W on the southwest side of the building and text Jocelyne when you arrive: (773) 802-4142. By Discovery was founded in 2012 by Art Educator and Oak Park resident Jocelyne Adkins. She has devoted the past eight years to developing art enrichment activities for youth, as Program Director & Lead Educator for Beye Discovery, Program of the Beye School PTO, Oak Park. Jocelyne earned her MAAE from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She is inspired daily by children, artists & nature! Kim Becker holds an MFA from Yale University and a BFA from Massachusetts College of Art. Kim is a professional photographer and a skilled printmaker. She is a kid at heart who enjoys working with and being inspired by young creatives!
