Dear Parents,
Happy Spring! JAM is excited to once again partner with the Blue Ridge Music Center and Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation to host the regional JAM and Family Day on Saturday, May 18. JAM and Family Day at the Blue Ridge Music Center is a wonderful chance for JAM kids from different programs to meet and play music together, participate in learning activities, perform, and have lots of fun!
This event is completely FREE for JAM kids, including lunch and snacks for participants. Pre-registration is HIGHLY recommended and the deadline for pre-registration is 5 p.m., MAY 10, 2019 (for lunch count). On-site registration is available the day of the event from 10 a.m. - 11 a.m., but your child will need to bring his/her own lunch or be prepared to purchase their own. (Parents may buy their own lunch provided by a vendor on-site.) Parents may accompany their children, but are not required to be on site. Students will be overseen by JAM staff, instructors, and BRMC/National Park Service staff and volunteers. There will be an arts and crafts activity available for younger siblings, as well as Junior Rangers activities and a trail hike offered by the rangers. The Roots of American Music exhibit will be available at the museum, as well. For more information about the Blue Ridge Music Center, you may visit
www.blueridgemusiccenter.org or call 276-236-5309.
Students are eligible to participate in THREE musical workshops or activities of their choice of varying levels (beginner to advanced) throughout the day led by JAM teachers and other master musicians, as well as a special enrichment program. Students are also encouraged to perform with their regular group for performances to close out the day, which is open to families and community members. If no other students from their regular JAM program are attending, please let me know and arrangements can be made for the student to play with another JAM group for the performance portion.
After registration is received, you will receive a confirmation email (if available---snail mail if not) for your child's JAM Day schedule, which will also contain a map labeling where the workshops will be held. Ample parking will be available. The day will begin at 11 a.m. and should be over by approximately 5:00 p.m.
Thank you so much for your interest in this event! Please help us spread the word, and we look forward to it! Please feel free to contact me anytime.
Sincerely,
