Body Education Survey
This survey is to seek an expression of  interest from our parent/carers  in our school community in relation to holding a parent/carer & child information sessions for different year levels. The topics for each level are below.

A trained presenter who has worked in the field of health promotion at both the Royal Women's Hospital and with Family Life would be conducting these sessions. The aim is to create a relaxed and inclusive environment where her unique fun facilitation style allows informal, respectful learning for young people so that they can be empowered with knowledge and understanding about their bodies.

Grade 1/2 Session – A session to help children understand families, what makes them the same
and what makes them different. Then onto what makes bodies the same and different.
Age-appropriate language is used to help children understand the differences in body parts and
reproduction. The notion of private parts and private places is discussed as well as an
understanding of feeling safe in their own bodies. Families are given the opportunity to also
discuss how babies develop and how they are born. (This session does not include sexual
intercourse but does include introducing the terms egg and sperm).

similarities and differences. Then we will move onto naming parts of the body that are the same
and different for males and females. This session also includes a discussion about private parts
and places and feeling safe in our bodies. From there, conception (including sexual intercourse
and a brief and basic explanation of assisted reproduction) is explained and this is followed by a
discussion of foetal development and birth.
