Pro Arte Orchestra of Hong Kong - Application Form
Thank you for your interest in Pro Arte Orchestra of Hong Kong. At Pro Arte, you will be able to play music that you have longed for.

Get into a community that has excellent track record of academic and career development.
Pro Arte’s musicians have been accepted into professional orchestras across four continents, including London Symphony Orchestra, Houston Grand Opera, Boston Philharmonic Orchestra and many others in Asia and Hong Kong. Thanks to the support of a number of reputable music schools, our musicians have been admitted to The Juilliard School, the Indiana University Jacob School of Music, Royal Academy of Music (UK), Royal College of Music and Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris (France) in multiple years. Pro Arte’s members have also performed extensively overseas at music festivals such as the renowned Tanglewood Music Festival, Aspen Music Festival, The Pacific Music Festival and Youtube Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Grammy Award-winning conductor Michael Tilson Thomas. Covering a wide range of nationalities, our musicians come from Korea, the United States, Italy, Japan, Canada, and Hong Kong.

Collaborate with world-class soloists and conductors.   Pro Arte has collaborated with international artists such as Jahja Ling (Emmy-award winning conductor and the longest serving conductor ever in the 100-year history of one of The Cleveland Orchestra), SungSic Yang (Sony Classical recording violinist), Sung-Won Yang (exclusive Universal Music cellist), Paul Silverthorne (Principal Viola of London Symphony Orchestra), Jeff Nelsen (Long-time Hornist of the world-renowned Canadian Brass), Edward Auer (the First American prize-winner of the prestigious International Frederick Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw), Geoffrey Simon (London based conductor who has conducted, amongst others, the London Symphony Orchestra and London Philharmonic Orchestra), Danny Driver (Hyperion recording Pianist with two Gramophone Editor's Choice selections) and Edmund Cord (Former Principal Trumpet of the world-class Israel Philharmonic). In the previous seasons, Pro Arte has performed the complete symphony of Mahler 4 and Bartok Concerto for the Orchestra. These concerts drew tumultuous applause by the audience and positive reviews from international music critics and media.

Receive pre-professional training in professional engagements.   Many of our alumni are already playing with professional orchestras as principal or tutti players in Europe, North America, Australia and Asia (in countries such as Japan and China). Selected experienced players in Pro Arte also get chances to represent the Orchestra in professional engagements like accompanying the famous IL DIVO operatic quartet, and numerous inter-institutional concerts as soloists or chamber musicians.

Extend musical knowledge, instrumental proficiency and repertoire.   Under the guidance of our Music Director, guest conductors and coaches, musicians in Pro Arte get to walk through repertoire that are of significance, learning the meaning and significance of such works and tackle specific problems of each piece. This provides a paradigm that is essential for personal and musical success. No wonder Pro Arte alumni are everywhere in significant music schools and professional orchestra worldwide!
