4-Session Course Registration: Lost and Isolated Jewish Communities
Mainstream Jewry has encountered communities across the globe claiming to belong to the Jewish people or to be descendants of lost Israelite tribes, who were exiled 2,700 years ago, for centuries. Who are these groups? How did they get "lost" or become isolated from the rest of the known Jewry? And why have their claims been accepted or rejected? Sessions will cover the history and search for the Lost Tribes, as well as communities ranging from India and Ethiopia to Africa and the Americas.

Instructor Dr. Steven Klein is a Jewish educator and journalist with a Ph.D. in conflict management and negotiation from Bar-Ilan University. An adjunct instructor at Tel Aviv University and a senior editor at Haaretz English Edition, he has contributed numerous articles to the newspaper on issues regarding Israeli society as well as regional and international conflict.
