National Cancer Awareness Day is observed on November 7 in India, to raise awareness about the increasing prevalence of cancer in our country. This health event was first formulated in September 2014 by the Union Health Minister Dr.Harsh Vardhan.
It is celebrated to mark the birth anniversary of the renowned Nobel Prize laureate, Madame Curie who had contributed the use of radiotherapy for cancer treatment.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), Cancer is a leading contributor of mortality rate in the countries. The most common types of cancer that occur in men are lung, prostate, colorectal, stomach and liver cancer and among women are breast, colorectal, lung, cervical and thyroid cancer.
In India, as many as 1.4 million new cancer cases are reported every single year. Early diagnosis can detect malignancies in their earliest stages and treatment will confirm the
